Southeast Texas, November 8 – SETXsocialcenter.com, a free calendar for all events in Southeast Texas, brought to you courtesy of Tim and Cody Bauer with Texas Financial in Winnie, Texas, is pleased to announce the events of its member organizations for the week of November 8, 2009.
If ever there was a week to get a babysitter, get a date or get off work early to attend some great evening events, it’s this week.
Evening Events Not to Miss
Monday through Thursday night, the Anayat House is celebrating its 15-year anniversary as the home-away-from-home for those caring for loved ones in local hospitals, with a dine out. Participating restaurants are donating a percentage of dining proceeds to this worthy cause. Restaurants, dates and times are:

Thursday night is the busiest of the week. First, stop off at the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at the Flagship Mailroom, 148 Dowlen Road at 5:00 p.m. Then women are invited to the Empowering Women as Leaders networking party in the Mirror Room at the Hotel Beaumont at 6:30 p.m. And, finish the evening at Lamar for the debut showing of “All in the Timing,” at 8:00 p.m. Call 409-880-2250 for information.
If you miss the showing of “All in the Timing,” Thursday night, see it Friday through Tuesday at the University Theatre. But also on Friday, November 13 is a reception for the Hong -Wen Lin Art Exhibit at the Dishman Art Gallery on the Lamar University campus at 7:00 p.m. Call 409-880-4959 for information.

Saturday night is packed with excitement. The Antioch Christian Debutante Ball is at the Holiday Inn on Walden Road at 6:00 p.m. Catholic Charities Harvest of Hope is at 7:00 p.m. at the MCM Elegante Hotel and the Southeast Texas Mavericks tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Ford Arena. Call 409-951-5400.
All Play and a Little Business
If we’re all playing at night, we’ve got to work during the day. Many business events fill this week’s calendar.
There are two ribbon cuttings. Monday, November 9 at 9:30 a.m. there is a ribbon cutting at Keller Williams Realty, 7999 Gladys, Ste. 102. Friday, November 13 at 11:30 a.m. there is a ribbon cutting at Alyson Jon Interiors, 6430 Phelan Blvd.
In addition to these ribbon cuttings, the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce is hosting Noon News Networking Luncheon on Thursday, November 12 at 11:45 a.m. at the Holiday Inn on Walden Road. For Chamber events call 409-838-6581.

Daytime Leisure
Time during your day time? Consider going to see international artist Shyamala Rao’s exhibit at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. She has 20 paintings titled “Tropical Delights: Flora and Fauna,” at Café Arts.
On Friday, November 13, drive toward downtown (Stop at Rao’s for lunch for Anayat House) and then park for awhile at 2195 Calder at 6th Street – Burns Antik Haus. Julie Burns is reopening after being closed to empty her most recently delivered container from Europe full of treasures. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. Call 409-835-3080 for details.

Additional Events at Lamar
As if a professional speaker, an art reception and a new play debut aren’t enough for Lamar, here are some other events happening this week on campus. On Monday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m. there is an MBA open house for perspective students. Thursday, November 12 at noon there is a past alumni presidents’ luncheon at the Mary and John Gray Center. Sports and Recreation
Saturday ends the week with some sporting events both at Ford Park. The first is at Ford Fields and is the Stars Over Texas Winter Showcase and Camp Softball at 9 a.m. Saturday morning November 14.
