Santa will soon be checking his list twice to see who has been naughty or nice while the rest of us double check our budgets hoping to see the addition of a few far-right zeros!
Fortunately, being nice to the ARC of Greater Beaumont doesn’t require a lot of zeros and can be as intertwined into your holiday giving as those lights you’re soon to pull out of your attic!
The ARC has launched its Holiday Card for a Cause Campaign. Southeast Texan members of the ARC, who have mental and related developmental disabilities, designed and created 32 different cards.
Allison, age 29, made a Christmas tree out of buttons and laid it over a Christmas plaid background; Fay, 46, designed a card with three simple white doves and used Advent colors — purple and green — as her tie-dye style background. Clark, 12, designed a blue card with stars with a city in the background. His greeting reads, “Be filled with wonder, be touched by peace … Merry Christmas.”
You’ll find gingerbread houses, cardinals, reindeer, rainbows, stars, angels, bells, wreaths and a few Texas greetings with cactus and cowboy boots. Each card is unique, but they all convey the joy of the holiday season.
Unlike your holiday lights, these holiday cards come organized, packaged 10 for $10. They can eliminate
holiday stress instead of adding to it. Kirksey’s Sprint Printing, who printed the holiday cards for the ARC, will print your name on your cards for a bargain. And these cards will warm your insides without the threat of fire.
Holiday Cards for a Cause are on sale at Dillard’s in Parkdale Mall, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12, the Junior League’s Main Street Market at the Civic Center running Dec. 3-5, or purchase by calling the Arc at (409) 784-5556.
Holiday card cash is used locally to provide ARC members with early intervention, health care, a free and appropriate public education and to support families.
