Combine lyrics of Christmas carols and you’ll be convinced that with Jingle Bells you can dash through the snow, rock the night away, chime, mix, mingle, hop and swing, laughing all the way. So, why not put on some bells and try running through downtown Beaumont?
On Dec. 5, at 8 a.m., runners and walkers will dash like Dancer and Prancer (or amble like Santa on Dec. 26), rain or shine, through the streets of downtown Beaumont for the City of Beaumont and YMCA’s Jingle Bell 5K Run. Stretching starts at 8:15 a.m. and runners will blast off at 8:30 a.m. with walkers (strollers allowed but no pets, please) beginning at 8:45 a.m.
Adorn yourself with bells and join the jingle jangle clan in a 3.2-mile (1-mile for walkers) course that will be more festive than the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Downtown Beaumont will be a mecca of holiday jubilation in preparation for all the day’s events that kickoff the Christmas season.

- Holiday Skating in the Beaumont Library parking lot from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Museum District Children’s Holiday Party on the Art Museum of Southeast Texas grounds from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.
- Live entertainment in the plaza between the Julie Rogers Theatre and the Library beginning at 5 p.m.
- Outdoor movie on the Tyrrell Historical Library grounds from 6- 8 p.m.
- Street parade at 6:30 p.m.
- Live entertainment and lighted boat parade at 7 p.m. at Riverfront Park.
Even if you are not a runner or even a walker, seeing the sights and sounds of the season will fill you with holiday spirit. Plus, wearing those Jingle Bells will transform you, like the songs proclaim. You’ll dash, rock, hop and swing, laughing all the way!
