Take a bite out of the Big Apple without the plane trip by enjoying the sights, sounds and flavors of New York City when you attend the American Heart Association Golden Triangle Heart Ball: New York, New York! on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Holiday Inn & Suites at the Beaumont Plaza.
America’s most popular city will be the backdrop for one of Southeast Texas’ most celebrated evenings! The elaborate décor will make you feel as though you’re entering an upscale 1930s speakeasy but with complimentary Cosmos and Manhattans during the cocktail hour starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Atrium, you can toast loudly the long-lost days of prohibition.
Toasting will continue through dinner – Beef Wellington with all the sides, salads and fixings. For dessert? You guessed it – New York Style Cheesecake!
Everyone will raise a glass under the New York skyline when Larry Hunter presents the prestigious J.C. Crager Award to Walter Umphrey, founder of Provost Umphrey Law Firm, and Dr. Leldon Sweet, founder of Cardiac Consultants and Outpatient Cardiovascular Service.
The award, named for the founder of the Beaumont chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA), is bestowed on individuals who have a history of working for the betterment of the community.
A visit to New York is not complete without participating in a little financial exchange, so bid big on the silent auction. Remember, Wall Street can wait; invest your cash in the live auction on such items as a week in Cozumel, a weekend for six at Lake Livingston
with Jimmy and Susan Simmons, a barbecue for 40 at the Broussard Ranch, three nights on the Vegas strip including a Hummer limo to the airport and airfare, gifts certificates to the hottest restaurants around and dinner by Chef David and the Folsom Medical Group.
The most populated spot will be the dance floor when the big band sounds of the Night and Day Orchestra fill the room in Cotton Club fashion until midnight.
Swing and sway knowing that you’ve contributed to an event of the heart. Funds raised go to research heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of men and women. Reservations may be made by calling (409) 980-8800. Read the published article here.
