Area churches are gathering to have a good time and raise money for a great cause.  February 13, 2010 will be the annual Ubi Caritas Dinner and mgposterDance to support this local medical ministry.  Ubi Caritas, which means place of healing, for the last 11 years has operated a medical clinic in south Beaumont to serve uninsured and low income patients.

Last year the clinic provided services to over 6,000 patients and provided $575,000 of charitable medical care to the Beaumont community.

The Mardi Gras Dinner and Dance was originally started by couples from St. Mark’s and St Stephen’s Episcopal churches to help raise money to support the medical services. This year First United Methodist, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, and Wesley United Methodist will be joining the other congregations to enjoy the evening and raise money.

This year’s event will be held at the Holiday Inn, Walden Road and I-10 and features the exciting sounds of “Mid Life Crisis Band.”  The evening will start with a Gumbo  or Seafood  Etoufee Dinner at 7:00 pm  with the dance to follow. There will be an old fashion Cake Walk featuring designer cakes from some famous area cooks.

Tickets are $40.00 a person reserve your table by contacting Jane Cunningham at 832-1924 x 102 or from the church office of one of the sponsoring churches. More information is available at www.ubicaritas.org
